Meet Dr. Berry

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialty private practice in midtown Manhattan and Westchester, NY, providing mental health care to clients of all ages.

Prior to transitioning to independent practice, I was a Clinical Associate Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where I continue to serve as an adjunct faculty member. At the Child Study Center of NYU Langone Health (NYULH), I coordinated the Intensive Anxiety and OCD treatment program, facilitated parent workshops and adolescent social anxiety groups, and co-founded and directed the Tics, Tourette’s Disorder, and Trichotillomania Program. I also led the nationally recognized NYULH Tourette’s Center of Excellence, with a multidisciplinary team of experts offering cutting edge interventions and research for individuals with tics.

Before joining the faculty at NYU, I was a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, where I helped establish the Early Life Stress and Pediatric Anxiety Program and trained extensively in the Stanford Eating Disorders Clinic in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. In addition to clinical work, I have been involved in research and teaching focusing on the development, dissemination, and implementation of innovative, evidence-based treatments for youth with anxiety and related impairments.

Approach To Treatment

My practice is dedicated to empowering individuals and families by changing cognitive and behavioral patterns using practical, efficient, evidence-based approaches. I am primarily a cognitive-behavioral therapist, and have extensive training in acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectical behavior therapy. Where appropriate, I incorporate exposure and response prevention, habit reversal training, values work, acceptance, mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal skills into my clinical work to assist clients with achieving their goals.

My top priority when beginning any treatment program is establishing a supportive and collaborative relationship with all of my clients. My approach is warm, non-judgmental, active, and results driven. I work hard to teach clients problem-solving and skill building while ensuring they feel heard and understood. Through this process, my hope is to help people develop the tools they need to confront and overcome their anxiety, fears, and other challenges so that they can return to leading healthy, satisfying, and productive lives.
